Cast and AirPlay TroubleshootingUpdated 2 months ago

Casting and AirPlay behavior can vary by device. This guide covers the most common issues reported after the update.

Chromecast: Cast icon is missing

Try these steps:

  1. Visit your app store to ensure you're using the latest app version
  2. Confirm your phone and Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network
  3. Force close The Chosen app, then reopen
  4. Restart your phone
  5. Restart your Chromecast or TV
  6. Start playback, then look for the cast icon again

If the cast icon still doesn’t appear, contact support with your phone model and Android version.

Playback stops when phone locks or screen turns off

Some users report that casting or AirPlay stops when the phone screen sleeps or locks.

Workarounds that often help:

  • Keep your phone screen awake while casting
  • Temporarily turn off auto-lock during playback if you are able
  • Avoid switching apps during casting if playback stops

Changing subtitles or language while casting

If language or subtitles won’t change while casting:

  • Set Audio & Subtitles first on your phone
  • Then start casting
  • If it resets, stop casting and try again once

USB-C or HDMI to a TV

If the picture looks smaller or bordered:

  • Check your TV picture mode (fit to screen)
  • Confirm phone rotation settings
  • If video restarts when switching modes, return to the episode list and start playback again
